There’s no denying that landscaping increases your home’s value. In fact, it can increase the value of a home 5% to 20%.

Even if you aren’t planning on selling your home anytime soon, there’s still a very good probability that you selected your current home because it had a beautifully amazing yard where your children could play, entertain guests, or just sit outside and enjoy Mother Nature. So, why wouldn’t you want to keep it clean and tidy?

If the answer is because you don’t have the time, then you need to read these five tips that will keep your yard in order without have to devote too much time and money.

1. Have the Right Tools.

The first step that you have to take when keeping your yard clean and tidy is by making sure that you have all the right tools and equipment in advance. Some of the essentials that you’ll need are gloves, a rake, shovel, clippers, shears, wheelbarrow, large yard trash bags, hose, and fertilizer.

If you have a larger yard investing in equipment like a lawn tractor is another necessity. To make your life even easier, you should also look into investing tractor accessories like the Cyclone Rake. You just hook-up to your mower and it vacuums all of those leaves and other debris that are covering your grounds. It saves you a ton of time instead of raking by hand and scooping them into a bag or wheelbarrow.

“We’ve noticed that when people don’t have the right tools they won’t make cleaning their yard a priority,” says Matt Coz, President of Woodland Power Products, makers of the Cyclone Rake. “With equipment like the Cyclone Rake, there’s never an excuse to have a messy yard,” says Coz.

2. Be Proactive About Weeding, Pruning, and Trimming.

It’s tempting to put off weeding, pruning, and trimming. It’s time-consuming and isn’t always the best activity for your back. 4. Maintain your Furniture, Patio, and Deck.

Outdoor furniture, a patio, and deck are all ways to transform your yard into a brilliant social space. They also can add some color and definition to your outdoor area. But, when we don’t maintain these items, it makes the outdoor area look tired and rundown.

Most of the time, you can simply sweep or brush your furniture, patio, and decks to remove outdoor debris. It only takes a couple of minutes and will definitely make your yard appear a whole lot cleaner and maintained. Also don’t forget to cover or store your furniture when it’s not in use, especially when it gets too cold to sit outside anymore.

Also, don’t forget to stain or paint your deck at least every other year unless you have a PVC or composite deck in which case, you should power wash at least every other year. And, if your furniture needs a little TLC, but isn’t broken, then you can power wash, spray paint or stain the furniture to breathe new life into it.

5. Put Everything Away.

This is probably the easiest and quickest way to keep your yard clean and tidy. Whether if it’s your yard tools, dog and children toys, bikes, or shoes, not picking up after yourself can quickly lead to a messy and cluttered yard. And, it also can cause damage to your mower and accessories. Running over metal gardening tools will definitely wear down or shatter your blades.

Purchase a shed, if you have the space, so that you can store all of your tools and outdoor equipment in one location. This will not only keep your yard clutter-free, it will also keep you organized so that you can locate these items when you need them. And, sheds can add another dimension to your yard.

When you have the right tools, a place to conveniently store them, stay-on-top of weeding, trimming, and pruning, and maintain your furniture, patio, and deck, it won’t be so overwhelming and time-consuming to keep your yard clean and tidy.

All you will need to use are the tissue papers, floral wire and fishing line. You can also easily create fabric pom poms if you would like to have a more lasting version.

Suspender curtains

Suspender curtains can be really cute in a nursery and the best part is that they are extremely easy to make. What you will need to make them is some fabric, fusible bonding web, scissors, iron, the overall buckles, hot glue gun, canvas strips, two buttons, curtain tension rod, needle and thread.

How to make

     You should begin with measuring the height and width of the window then add about 4” to the width and 6” to height on the fabric and cut.

     Fold the sides and button in one inch then use the fusible bonding web for hemming.

     You will make the curtain rod pocket if you fold the top down 5” then secure with a bonding web.

     Lay the curtain on a flat surface to be able to determine how high you will draw the shade. Place the buttons at the front with the straps behind the fabric then fold them over the front. Then cut the straps to suit the panel.

     After that, insert the straps into the overall buckle securing it with hot glue and repeat.

     Then sew the button in front of the curtain panel and sew the end of the strap directly behind it. Repeat.

DIY drawer pulls

You can purchase vintage yo-yo’s on sites like eBay and turn them into cute drawer pulls. To make the pulls, what you will need is the wooden yo-yos, drill, pliers, hanger bolts size depending on drawer panel thickness, nut:

How to make it

     Pre drill a hole just a little bit smaller than the hanger bolt into the back center of the yo-yo.

     Twist the hanger bolt in the hole using pliers.

     Insert the bolt into the hole in the drawer then fasten it with the nut tightly.

Paper dot mobile

This is also quite easy to make as you watch a movie on a lazy Sunday and what you will need are a small hole punch, 2” circle punch, nine pieces of 12”x12” card stock, 8mm jump rings, needle nose pliers, two embroidery hoops 8” and 6”, screw hook, fishing line.

     First, cut circles with the 2” punch

     Punch holes of 1/8” from top to bottom of the circles then string nine of the circles together using the jump rings. You should punch only one hole for the top and bottom circle.

     Hot glue the top circle of each strand to the embroidery hoops.

     Make nine more but use the 6” embroidery hoop.

     Glue the fishing line to three spots on each hoop then hang from hook.
